Inclusive Practice in the Early Years: Supporting Regulation, Wellbeing and Learning

Join our live webinar on Thursday 11 June, 4 - 4.45pm, as Thrive’s Viv Trask-Hall alongside a guest speaker & neurodiversity specialist, Cheryl Warren, explore what effective inclusive practice really looks like in early years settings today.

Early years teams are supporting increasing numbers of children with sensory, communication and emotional needs, often while managing limited resources, rising expectations and stretched teams.

At the same time, many practitioners are asking the same questions: How do we create truly inclusive environments? What helps children feel safe, regulated and able to learn? How can settings support increasing levels of need without relying solely on reactive strategies or individual interventions?

Led by Thrive’s Viv Trask-Hall alongside a guest speaker & neurodiversity specialist, Cheryl Warren, this webinar will explore what effective inclusive practice really looks like in early years settings today. Drawing on Thrive’s evidence-based approach to emotional development, alongside specialist insight into neurodiversity and inclusion, the session will examine how environments, consistent relationships and targeted support can work together to strengthen children’s wellbeing and regulation.

Rather than focusing on inclusion as a policy or checklist, the webinar will explore practical ways settings can embed inclusive practice into everyday provision - helping children feel safe, supported and able to engage.

In this webinar, we’ll explore:

  • Why behaviour is often a sign of stress, not defiance - and what children may be communicating through dysregulation, withdrawal or overwhelm

  • How environments, routines and adult responses can help children feel safe, regulated and able to engage

  • Why inclusive practice should begin before diagnosis, and how this benefits all children

  • The connection between emotional safety, regulation and engagement in the early years

  • How settings can build more confident, consistent and sustainable inclusive practice across teams, without overwhelming staff

This session is designed to support early years practitioners, leaders and SEND professionals to build inclusive practice that works in the reality of busy settings, helping children feel safe, supported, included and able to thrive.
